While we were in the Philadelphia area we had to have a Philly Cheesesteak.  There are two famous spots to eat them, Pat’s and Geno’s, and they are right across the intersection from each other.  We chose Geno’s because the line was shorter, it looks fancier, he’s had some crazy political controversy, and we had never had either, so we had to start somewhere!

There are a few options for how to eat your official Philly Steak.  You can get it “wit” which means with fried onions and the other choice is “whiz” a cheese whiz from a giant can that soaks into the steak.  You can also get other types of cheese, but the traditional way is “whiz wit.”  Unlike other places in the country, they do not include grilled peppers or any of the other toppings you might find.  Simple and tasty!!!  They also have birch beer, which is a local soda, kind of like root beer.  After about a 20 minute wait we got our sandwiches and they were AWESOME!!!
