After two very long days we’ve made it to my parents’ house on Bainbridge Island, WA. Â I won’t say much about yesterday except that it involved shots, cleaning and saying goodbye to Daisy. Â Not my favorite.
We managed to leave the Bay Area at around 3:30 p.m. after stopping at Barefoot Coffee for a little caffeine fix. Â After a four hour or so drive we made it to Anderson, CA which is just south of Redding, CA. Â Justin found us a great deal on a hotel and it turned out to be a really nice place. Â If you’re ever driving through we recommend it highly. Â It was the Gaia Shasta Hotel.
They also had a yummy all-you-can-eat breakfast (I seem to be getting a lot of those lately!) for $3.50 a person.
11 hours, a double rainbow, and a rainbow that appeared to end in our car later we arrived safe and sound on Bainbridge Island. Â Now we have a few days to relax and see family (Justin’s parents are arriving shortly!!! Â This is so GREAT!!!) and then we head to New Zealand on Saturday.
It feels really, really good to get this trip on the road!
I can’t believe how quickly time is going and how close we are to heading out on this trip. Â One month from now we’ll be heading off around the world!!!
This afternoon we’re heading back to the travel clinic for yet another vaccination – Japanese Encephalitis. Â This is actually fairly last minute as we need to have a booster shot 28 days after this first shot. Â So we’ll have to go back to the travel clinic right before we head out on the trip.
